Are you applying to the EBIO program?

FIRED UP (Field-Intensive Research Emphasizing Diversity UP in the alpine) is a fully-funded, immersive field experience program for incoming EBIO graduate students at the University of Colorado Boulder. All incoming graduate students are invited to participate in the program, to gain field experience, build community, and discover large-scale research ideas in the summer before you start graduate school.

What’s cool about the field days, is you are doing something task oriented but are also put in sort of a passive environment to mingle with the smaller group. So that was kind of perfect. You could just go into the meadow after dinner with friends, and hang out for a little while.
