Build community with your EBIO cohort

FIRED UP is not just about technical science training. It’s about building community within your EBIO cohort, joining the broader EBIO team, and collaborating with others to achieve your goals. We offer opportunities in mentoring, team-building, and self-discovery, that will fuel your advancement in the program.

We support students in the following ways:

Building community with peers and scientists

One of the goals of FIRED UP is to create a tight-knit community within the graduate student cohort, as well as connect to the wider Niwot Ridge and CU Boulder science community. We provide many opportunities to network and socialize, as well as unconventional team-building activities, including:

  • Icebreakers

  • Social cookouts and potlucks

  • Creative group activities like improv, painting, poetry, and more

Helping you grow as a scientist

Our goal is to provide you with opportunities to develop who you are as a scientist. As a part of FIRED UP, you’ll be lead through brainstorming exercises and journaling to help you explore your science passions and goals.

What does science mean to you? What is your driving purpose?

We will also address the issues and struggles of being a scientist, like imposter syndrome and belonging in STEM, by creating safe spaces for discussion. Our hope is that these conversations will empower you and help you build a support system with your peers that will last throughout your career.
